Making the Most of Fall Floral Arrangements

The fall brings endless opportunities for entertaining. So whether you’re planning a moody a woodland-inspired dinner party, a grown-up Halloween gathering, or looking ahead to holiday entertaining, we have some suggestions to make the most of your centerpieces.

Balance the Moody
Torryne Choate of Birch keeps her arrangements from becoming too moody by including a mix of lights and darks with peonies, parrot tulips, David Austin ‘Graham Thomas’ roses, ranunculus, fritillaria, orchids, kangaroo paw, and scabiosa pods.

Keep the Feeling Loose
Don’t feel like you have to over-populate your arrangements, remember that even a few big blooms can create a strong seasonal statement.

Work in Texture
Incorporating deep burgundy hues with a mix of textures—such as in Maria Maxit’s vegetable-fresh arrangement that includes kale, broccolini, artichokes, and basil—adds both dimension and interest.

Don’t Abandon Pastels

Throw a few darker, red-wine toned flowers to the usual pinks, reds and whites and the bouquet becomes autumn appropriate. Or a few autumnal leaves can be tucked into some simple white roses for a centerpiece that brings the outdoors in.

Play With Traditional Fall Imagery
Do something interesting with pumpkins to create a fall-friendly tablescape. Here white pumpkins and taper candles play off of greenery for a perfect centerpiece.
