Embracing Fall’s New, Moodier Neutrals

As the sun sets on the lightness of summer, we look ahead to the deeper days of fall. The change of season always brings an exciting home trend to embrace, and this season we find that neutrals are getting a moody makeover.

Navy, The Bold Neutral

For a long time we’ve seen mostly bright, white interiors, but fall is ushering in a shift towards darker hues, and navy is at the center of it all. Blue lovers rejoice, because your favorite color is a staple in linens, cushions, and even larger furniture pieces.

We love this Bungalow 5 Janak navy grasscloth and nail head cabinet which is glamorous and functional all at the same time.

These hand made ceramics by Philadelphia brand,  Felt & Fat strike the perfect chord.

Gray, The ‘It’ Neutral

Remember when gray was synonymous with sadness and gloom? Well no longer, because when it comes to décor trends for 2015, gray continues its reign as the go-to color for home interiors. Be it soft gray or dark charcoal gray, there’s no denying that gray is in. Gray can anchor a light, white decor or lighten a deeper, darker color story. The perfect compliment to many a hue, it’s no wonder we all love gray.

Greige, The New Neutral

The new shade popping up everywhere is a gray and beige combo, or greige. This modern hue has thousands of pins and likes on Pinterest, showing up on everything from tea cups to bath tubs.

Kelly Porter, an interior designer and color consultant, told Houzz that “when you combine the contemporary sophistication of gray with the earthy qualities of beige, you get…an organic, elegant neutral that is very easy on the eyes.”

Our favorite is Benjamin Moore’s Asford Greige, which is perfectly balanced between the two hues.

So this fall, explore your darker side and fall in love with fall’s moody neutrals.
